Run Update

Firstly, happy Memorial Day! I am so grateful for all who have served our country.

Before we get to the run update, just a few things.

1.) I came across this website and I am very intrigued by this book. Hopefully I'll get it on my Nook before heading out of town.

2.) I decided to write a goal list for the week focusing on my marriage, my kiddos, self care, friends, homemaking, and work :) I set 1-2 goals per focus and I'll let you know how it went at the end of the week!
3.) Tried this and I wasn't overly impressed. I'm just so in love with my dry sugar free hazelnut.
4.) I'm making an Oreo salted caramel icebox cake for a girl's night tomorrow. I'll keep you posted!
5.) We had a pj and pancake party for the youngest. He is obsessed with Kodiak cakes so he insisted that is what we would serve. 2 people bought him boxes of Kodiak cakes so we made crepes and waffles this weekend. Yummo!
6.) My fav smoothie lately: vanilla Vega protein and greens, 3/4 of a frozen banana, 2 cups of ice, 2 handfuls of spinach, and water = a giant yummy green smoothie! This is awesome after a hard sweaty workout! In the afternoon, I'll switch out the vanilla for chocolate, omit the spinach, and use coffee instead of water and it's a great recovery/pick me up!
7.) I am officially 3 weeks in to a 26 week marathon plan. I found one on line and I'm adjusting it based on my needs and schedule and the fact that I need strength training too. I'll get a little more serious/scheduled at the beginning of July. My goal for the month of July is strength training, lots of stretching, and staying healthy!
8.) And my run update

Ah :)

It was a much better, healthier, happier week around our household.

My main goal this week was balance and eating lots of veggies and protein!

My fav breakfasts have been cinnamon roll oatmeal and veggie/egg white scramble.
And like I said, balance. 1/2 of my fav Heath bar cupcake from the best bakery ever = amazeballs.
I am planning to run a marathon in 25 weeks so I am working on a solid base layer and was supposed to run 8 slow miles Saturday morning and woke up with a horrific stomachache so that got cut. Before, I probably would have just suffered through it but I'm really trying to listen to my body and yesterday, it said no.

The hubs and I ran a black light (supposed to be 5k) run with my xc kids last night. It ended up being 2.12 miles and I couldn't have been more thankful because my tummy was not cooperating. But it was fun nonetheless.
We decided to head out for a 6 miler this morning and I was feeling well enough for a 7 miler. We went nice and slow, had to hit the restroom once but the sunshine was speaking to me so we kept at it!

Now it's pool time, hubby's baccalaureate speech, and a graduation party.

Long time no update

I'm going to be real. I've been dieting. Eek. I don't even like that word. I'm trying to figure out the whole balance and making it just a part of my real life, but in the meantime it's a freaking struggle. I'll go a few weeks where I'm on point eating and exercising wise, which I fully admit means not eating enough, bingeing, and exercising too much. So, for accountability sake I am putting it out there that I need to eat a minimum of 1500 calories a day and I will not over-exercise to make up for a crazy eating day. I definitely struggle with some OCD. It's not even really about body image. It's about controlling things. My struggle lies with counting calories, bingeing, and over exercising. If I don't calorie count, I binge. If I'm too stringent, I binge. So, I am just trying to find some balance without going overboard. Whew. So, my goal is balance, maintain, and be strong. My plan is to loosely count calories to stay accountable and to enjoy my food. 2nd, to stick to my workouts and not adjust to make up for calories.

So hard. Okay, lighter subject now :) I ran a 10k this weekend in 46 min and finished 1st woman! Yay! And I got to celebrate Mama's day with my mom by getting a foot massage and dinner
And Saturday, I ran my race and then got a pedi and had Mexican food (sizzling fajita salad) with my mommy in law!

I also admitted to the hubs that I have been bingeing on Friday night and we had a good long talk about triggers, followed by some planning, so I am feeling much better prepared and ready to actively seek and work towards better balance.

Whew, I was all over the place today. What I've learned so far from this (and I'm sure there's more) is to talk with people you trust and who actually listen and love you, to move on, and to have a plan.

Running and Life Update

So life has been cray busy! I've been out 8 of the last 10 school days for test proctoring/field trips/and one 'real' sick day that the hubs forced me to take because I couldn't drag myself out of bed.

The hubs and I went to Yosemite with the school. We stayed in a cute little hostel and ate vegan food. It was awesome!
We also discovered this on our bathroom stop on the way there
You're welcome.

We got back home at 6 on Friday night and left for the OC 1/2 marathon on Saturday at 10am. We picked up our bibs and got lots of free, yummy samples. We had a cheeseless bruschetta pizza and a veggie salad to fuel up.

Race day: we woke up @ 4:30 and had a quick cup of Joe and a picky bar. We took a shuttle from our hotel to the start line (so awesome!!) The gun went off at 6:15am.

Before:
After:
We're still smiling! Did I marry a hottie or what??

And everything in between:
This was probably one of my fav races. There were rolling hills, gorgeous sites, and perfect weather!

And now we need to register for our fall full...
