Training Plan!

This weekend was busy, fun, fast, and too short!! We took the littles to a Rockin Worship Roadshow Concert on Friday night and stopped at Freebirds for dinner!! I adore that place. Like, I could eat it every single day for the rest of my life.

The concert was awesome!! And it was nice to have some chatty time with the hubs while the kiddos passed out. 

Saturday was basketball games, shopping, and family time (i.e. watching Fuller House).

Sunday was a quick trip to Magic Mountain and thank goodness it was quick because it was the busiest I have ever seen! Thankfully we were mostly there for just the little kid rides because otherwise I may have stabbed my eyeballs out having to wait in 4+ hour lines! The kids had a blast! 
And it gave me a chance to break in my Europe walking shoes. They're ugly but super cushiony. Now if I can just figure out how to keep them from rubbing the back of my ankle raw.
The hubs and I officially started a new 1/2 marathon training plan. We are taking it super easy this cycle and adding in lots of strength training. The goal this cycle is to stay healthy with no injuries!

3 miles!!

 I've decided two things: no social media until Easter and I'm only going to wash my hair every 3 days. Random. I know. I've pretty much always washed my hair every other day, unless I'm running in 100 degree weather, which happens more often than I like. So, I need to find some fun up dos for that third day. Here's what I got so far:
It's 81 degrees here today, so spring dress it is! 
And I actually made it 3 miles this morning. So much for waiting until 3/1. I'm just hoping to build up a solid base by then. I need to figure out a way to incorporate strength training into my running plan because I'm really enjoying it. Today was 5 min of waking, then 5 min @ 6mph, 5 min @ 6.5mph, 5 min @ 6.8mph, and about 4 min @ 7.0mph for a grand total of 3 miles followed by 30 minutes of ab work. 14 reps of 8 exercises X 3.

Happy Caturday & my favorite things

I have officially made it 6 days with no attempts for a run! I had my hair chemically straightened on Tuesday so that forced me to not sweat or wash my hair for 3 days which helped with the no running. I walked 2 of those mornings and hit up the bike this morning with the hubs for a nice 7 mile foggy bike ride. 

I found some gray away spray at Target and this stuff is legit between colorings. Whenever I get my hair straightened, it lifts my color and I can't get it recolored for 3 days!  

Another of my favorite things lately is this shirt from my sis in law. Another Target find!

I only have 10 more days until I am going to try and run again!! The countdown is on!

Cauliflower Pizza and Pool Running

We tried cauliflower pizza for our Friday night pizza. Other than falling apart, it was yummy!
The hubs and I did a quick, should have been easy, 2 mile jog on Valentine's Day. My shin is being ridiculous so I am officially not running/jogging until March 1st. This means I am walking/biking/swimming/strength training. Yesterday I biked 8.25 miles in 28 minutes, today was a .30 mile swim in 20 minutes. The next 3 days are off because I am having my hair straightened ;) Well, sort of off. I can still walk and do some light strength. I also ordered an aqua belt so that I can pool run 
I am signed up for a 1/2 marathon on May 1st which is only an 8 week training cycle, so I plan on hitting up the pool for pool running at least 2x's a week before March!
Sometimes it stinks to listen to what our bodies tell us to do!!

Race Recap

I went ahead and decided to run the Surf City 1/2. I took it fairly easy and walked about 2 miles. I let my body guide me and thankfully my shins felt pretty good! My goal was to finish without breaking a bone! Goal accomplished!

And now 2 weeks of zero running! 

I'm seriously thinking about a sprint triathlon. I ordered a wetsuit and our pool will be finished on Thursday... I'm still on for the OC 1/2 Marathon on 5/1, so I will have to incorporate biking and swimming into 1/2 marathon training.

I finally felt well enough to get an actual run in! I taped it up last night!
I walked the first 5 minutes at 4mph, then jogged the rest of my first mile at 6.5mph, then 6.7mph for the 2nd mile, then 6.9 for the 3rd, then 7.1 for the 4th, 7.2 for the 5th, and 7.3 for the 6th with an overall 9 min/mi pace. Not too shabby!
I've decided that I'll keep my doctor's appt for today as I figured it would be too late to cancel it anyway and I'll see what he thinks about running this weekend and whether he has any tips! Ah! It felt so good to finally run without pain today! There was soreness, but no pain!

Still hurting...

I had an X-ray of my tubula and fibula on Friday and my bones are nice and healthy but there was an odd spot on the front of my shin so I am seeing an orthopedist tomorrow. There will definitely be no racing this weekend but I'm super excited to have a friend who can jump in and take my bib. We are still headed to the race since the rooms are paid for for 2 nights! At least it's in a beautiful city that supposed to be in the 70's this weekend! 

Okay, so I'm still walking on the treadmill and I'm hooked on Fitness Blender's YouTube workouts.

I've also decided this time of injury is a really good time to clean up my eating ;) Fun, but I can already feel a difference from cutting out the nightly ice cream. I am seriously addicted to night time snacking so I've currently replaced the ice cream with chai tea and since it's been cold and rainy, it has totally done the trick.
