One handed blogging & DDD

I haven't blogged in a bit, but I have a very good reason…

Essentially, I got spooked and turned to run as fast as I could and tripped and fell on my hand and knees. Thankfully, I was with my friends who is a nurse and she recognized that I was going into shock so she gave me her jacket to cover up my hand. She got me safely to the hubs who immediately took me to the emergency room. After a couple of hours, they put my hand into a splint and gave me morphine. The doctor described my x-ray as "jacked up." Basically, my index metacarpal is broken in about three different places and is going to require surgery this week. 

Of course my first and only question for my doctor was "when am I going to be able to run?" I am currently signed up for a half marathon in one and a half weeks. He said no way to running it, but he thought that walking it would be perfectly okay. So, walking is the plan. 

This is what my fingers looked like after walking 4 miles last night... And it took me 63 minutes. Double oy!
And for some good news, the hubs signed us up for the Dumbo double dare at Disneyland in August!! Basically, we will run a 10K on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday. Last Valentine's Day the hubs promised to train and run a half marathon with me at Disneyland so this will fulfill that promise. I am already planning our costumes. I'm thinking Mickey and Minnie Mouse!!

Fake Monday

No school/work yesterday for MLK day, so today is my pseudo Monday. 

Today began with 3 miles and intervals of jumping jacks, high knees, and front kicks.

Green bell pepper with peanut butter, then old fashioned oats, 1/2 banana, blueberries, and agave. Yummo!

Snacks: almonds & grapes, carrots, an apple, wasabi peas, and a clementine.

Lunch was leftover chicken and veggie enchiladas with whole wheat tortillas.

Dinner was a 6in Subway sandwich. I feel like I are a ton today, probably because it was all REAL food :) And I was way under my calories so I think I might add more for lunch tomorrow. My calorie break down was pretty spot on though. Hmm, maybe I can add some protein powder to my oatmeal.

Bum Wrap

The championship game did not go as planned so I commiserated with the hubs over Oreos 
Today was a ton of laundry (7 loads). I swear I just did laundry. And lots of errands 
Love Costo! I ordered their chicken Caesar salad and it was pretty good, very light on the dressing.
I also ordered real sleeping bags for our camping trip this weekend (& road trip this summer!)
They are definitely not $200 sleeping bags so hopefully we'll be okay in 30-40 degree weather. Prior to this we owned a single adult sleeping bag that my father in law bought for the hubs for his 6th grade school camping trip, 22 years ago! And we had bought the kids nylon super hero type bags so these should be awesome in comparison. We are now debating whether a 4 person dome tent will be big enough for all of us. 
The hubs called my hair sassy today. I kind of like it :)

Best Saturday Ever

Slept in until 7, and yes when you have 3 kids ages 6, 8, and 9 sleeping until 7 is sleeping in! We lounged around for a couple of hours
Breakfast burritos to fuel our jog

Then we ran/jogged/walked 2 miles for #megsmiles
We cashed in the kids' certificate at In-N-Out for reading
Followed by Hobby Lobby and a nap. 
I'm currently fueling for another 9 miles with a girlfriend #trainingforheavenly #megsmiles
We are due to finish our run at a local ice cream shop ;)

Hot & sour

Yesterday was a 5 mile speedy run under an almost full moon :)

I made grilled cheese with strawberry jam for dinner (try it!!!)
And then banana, chocolate, and peanut butter "milk shakes" 
Frozen bananas, chocolate syrup, a scoop of peanut butter, and almond milk. Yummo!
Lukey Bear was drinking it too fast!

I YouTubed some Ellen episodes. 💜. Love.
Eye appt's for the me & the girl today.
It was a long afternoon.

And I finished the day with grocery shopping and hot & sour soup.
I always crave this when I feel a cold coming on.

The challenge

This morning was an hour of fast biking while wearing 2 pairs of pants, a long sleeved shirt, sweat shirt, down vest, warm headband, scarf, and winter gloves. I know compared to other places it is not cold here. But it feels cold to me.

The first challenge I have accepted is to wake up at 4am tomorrow, get to K's house by 4:15 (running .4 miles to get there) and go run bleachers with our other friend at the amphitheater by 4:30. The second challenge I have accepted is to have my pile of workout clothes waiting next to my bed along with a headband. My goal is to not have to redo my hair so tonight it looks like this 
And hopefully all I'll have to do is throw on a headband. I'll let you know how that goes. And yes, I'm already wearing half of my workout gear to bed. 4am!!

Where is the motivation?!

Saturday began with a 2 mile fun run with the kids followed by a 100 yrd sprint against the hubs. He barely beat me! Since the food person didn't show up we treated the kids to Sugar Twist Bakery. 
Boo that I didn't take a picture of the actual donut. It was awesome!

Followed by the farmer's market so we could get spicy black bean hummus. Yumm!! 

7 miles s.l.o.w run for me. I think this is my off season for reasons unbeknownst to me.

Famous Dave's because B got a free kids meal for his student of the month.
Sunday was early church so we could watch the 10am football game. Great message: love is truly tested when we are wounded.

I don't know who had more fun but the hubs insisted that this be his next birthday party, you know when he turns 35!

It never gets old

Today started with a cross fit run. 3 minutes of running + 1 minute of exercises for 45 minutes. 

Breakfast was a bell pepper with peanut butter. My fav.

Sofie's tongue never gets old.
I love her.

I got beat in Phase 10 by the middle. Sheesh.

And we built a squirrel house...
We have no visitors yet though ;)

And the absolute very best way to end the day.

An apology

The kid who I wrote a referral to yesterday apologized which was so nice.

Grocery shopping and single mommyhood for the last two days because hubs has been busy and now sick (boo!!)

Workout was bike speed work and a run tomorrow. I haven't been in a huge running mood lately. What's up with that?

Back to work Monday

After two weeks of Christmas break, we are all back to work today. 

Workout was pure cardio Insanity. It was a bit insane.

Also, I wrote my first referral for the semester today on the first day of the semester. Dumb.

The hubs and I got a little cray cray this weekend and hired a cleaning lady. Master's classes + teaching full time + the hubs and kids= very little housework actually getting done. Well, Mrs. I showed up at our house last night with homemade tamales!

Hence, dinner was a homemade beef tamale with pinto beans and a side of steamed edamame.
Now, I must go read my book club book, the Orchardist, so that I am ready for our meeting this Saturday.
So far, 2 thumbs up!

This workout this morning after laying in bed until 8am (yay!!)
1.5 cups of coffee & no food prior to this workout was maybe not the best idea.

SIL was able to get free movie tickets, soda, and popcorn for the fam to see The Hobbit! Maddie girl and the hubs have read the books so we are super excited to watch the movie.

And a good makeup day 😎 The hair not so much, but I hate blow drying it for a 1/2 day's use when I know that I'm going to be running tomorrow morning.

Taco Crawl

We were picked up in our fancy shmancy limo after dropping off our munchkins for the night and we were able to hit about 5 taco stands before finishing off at Yogurtland. It was such a fun night spent with amazing friends.
Oh yes, and we were all decked out in the hubs' favorite, 49er gear.
Shrimp tacos at Tacos De Huichos were the winner of the night.

And the hubs thought it would be hilarious to put his hat on me. This is the straightest most serious face I could hold.

Last day :(

Happy new year!
Three goals this year: 1. Spend time doing something physical with the kids each day. 2. Lift more weights. 3. Run more than last year. Easy right?

It was our last day at Disneyland on our passes :( Happy/sad day.

This is how we read books on the way to Disneyland at 5am.

And I got to run while the kids/hubs napped 
I love running in new to me places and Disney is pretty cool.

The little one isn't feeling up to par...
Poor babes, hopefully this stupid cold is on it's way out!

Wish me luck today, it's my first time donating blood. I've tried twice before but was turned away because of international travels. I should be totally clear today!!
